Billy Strings Night 3 at the Hard Rock AC

Saturday night was my first time seeing Billy and what an event it was. My introduction to him was a bon fire party night so to say I was a bit under the influence would be an understatement but his music in the background is what kept the party going. His “Jam Band Bluegrass” style consistently keeps people movin and tappin along. Saturday night was no different, although this time I was sober.

I was able to get on the floor for the show which was the perfect spot to take it all. He seems to draw people from all walks of life and all age groups and even a guy dressed from head to toe in a metallic Mad Hatter costume. They were also some of the friendliest people you could come across, handing out stickers just for taking a picture or high fives from the group.

By the time the show started there was a cloud that grew over the pit that not even the smoke machines could keep up with. Right from the start the crowd seemed to collectively move as one. Heads bobbed around like the people were floating in an ocean. With plenty of space to move, there was dancing and twirling and people would go from one group to another as if they all weren’t complete strangers just an hour ago. It was really something to see.

Standing there as a bystander, the style of music he plays can sometimes blend together from song to song but there is no denying he is a hell of a singer and an even better guitar player. I highly recommend attending, sober or not, it was a great show.
