Welcome to “Out on the Lawn”

Welcome to the Out on the Lawn Blog! This is a site where I, with the help of my Fiancé, review live music events and experiences on everything from the performance itself, down to the food at the venue with a focus in the NJ/PA area! The idea behind this site is to allow people to share in our experiences, to give people an idea what other venues and areas are like, and especially to get people interested in seeing more live shows!

When it comes to live music, I have always been the type to say “i’ll see anybody, anywhere” and that is the truth. Ive been lucky enough in my life to see acts ranging from Rush and Pearl Jam to Drake and Run DMC and even got to attend the only tour for the Saturday Night Live band, The Lonely Island (The ones who sing Dick in a box) lol.

One of the things I hope comes across is the feelings that music, especially live music, brings out in everybody. To me one of the most incredible moments we can share, and you can feel it immediately, is the crowd sing alongs. Moments like when Foo Fighters do Best of You, or Pearl Jams Betterman come to mind. 20 thousand people, from all different backgrounds, sharing a moment where nothing else matters except the music. Politics, financial backgrounds, race, home life, etc., it all gets put aside because of a shared interest. A brief few hours of what humanity can be if we gave each other the chance. In those moments I try to stop and just look around at all the people and just take in the moment itself. No phone out, just being out there, soaking it all in.

The reason why I decided to call the blog “Out on the Lawn” is mainly because all the way back to when I first started going to shows, lawn seats were the cheapest lol. Now, as I get older, I realize that what else makes the lawn sections great is the people around you. There is a different mentality from people on the lawn to the people in the seats. The lawn section becomes a community as the night goes on. You become friends and almost neighborly with the people around you. You talk about how many times you’ve seen the band, your favorite songs, cities you’ve been to, you dance and sing together and so much more. Now anytime we go to a show, you’ll find us on the lawn, drink in hand with a blanket and a couple of beach chairs lol. Well hopefully you guys enjoy the site and be sure to hit the links at the top of the page to follow along! Cheers everybody!

Also, if you happen to be a Dave fan (Dave Matthews Band), be on the lookout for a Carter Beauford Eagles jersey and come say hi!
